Skills Gap + Women Returners = Potential Market Growth

by | Mar 20, 2019 | City CV Blog | 5 comments

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day was #balanceforbetter. The perfect opportunity for us to write about a subject we’re passionate about; helping women who want to return to work after a career break and addressing the skills gap.

In this article for the Institute of Directors, City CV founder and CEO, Victoria McLean, outlines her ideas for how SMEs can adapt the highly successful Returner schemes to their own needs, resources and budgets. Returner schemes were pioneered by investment banks, but are quickly catching on in fields as diverse as the civil service, law and engineering. It’s a common misconception that you need an investment banking sized budget to implement a Returner scheme – you don’t.

Victoria discussed this further (along with many other issues facing mid sized enterprises) when she chaired the ‘Addressing the Skills Gap’ session at the IOD’s Brittelstand Symposium.
