“You’re standing on the edge of a cliff, deciding whether or not to jump.” That’s what a City CV career coach said to Richard Corse as he embarked on a journey that, he hoped, would help him start a new career.
Now that he’s nearing the end of the career coaching process, Richard is applying for jobs in areas where his skills and interests overlap. Richard and his career coach identified transferrable skills from previous job roles, as well as his work as a musician. “They’ve elevated me to a completely different person – but it’s still me,” he says. “I now have the confidence in myself to see the person and put forward those skills that I didn’t even realise were there.”
So, where is Richard now? “I’m still on the edge of the cliff. But I’m strapping on my parachute, and I anticipate a safe landing.”
